The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has been the leading professional
association in the solid waste field for over 40 years.

members throughout North America, and thousands more with conferences,
certifications, publications, and technical training courses.
The Alaska Chapter of SWANA is
a group of professionals from government, industry, and consultants who work in the solid waste
business in Alaska.
Our mission is to improve the management of solid waste in Alaska by offering education and
training and promoting the dissemination of information, continuing education, professional
development, and research programs.
We hold quarterly meetings at various locations in Alaska, and offer technical programs related to
solid waste management, and project-specific information exchange at each meeting. The
quarterly meetings are often held at different solid waste facilities and typically offer a tour of the
facility and discussion of operations. Toll-free dial-in access is typically available for the meetings
for members who can not attend in person. We also offer Manager of Landfill Operator (MOLO)
and Rural Alaska Landfill Operator (RALO™) training periodically in Alaska.
